Mission Trip Prayer Requests

Hey guys! If you haven't already heard, a few of our cell members will be heading down the the Philipines from the periods of 26th Nov - 3rd Dec for a Mission Trip!

This year is extra significant as it's the first year YI members who have signed up for the trip get to go for it with their cell members (whereever possible) under the same mission trip team. =)

We have 11 members going this year (enough to form a single team), and we're all very excited over the trip. But before we go, could we kindly request that you guys help pray for us? *Hint Hint*

So without further adue, here are Team Aspiration's prayer requests! (Please be warned! It's a rather lengthy list!) =P

Charissa:
1. Protection over family
2. Holy Spirit guidance in Philipines
3. No headache
4. Finish all my work before I leave the trip

Serene:
1. I will be sensitive to the Holy Spirit
2. I will be filled with the Holy Spirit
3. Family not to worry about my well being in the philipines
4. Good health
5. Cooperation, love and care between members in MT team
6. God's Will to be done in Philipines
7. MT team to be alert against Satan's attack

Jian Yi:
1. Pray that my family here in Singapore would be safe and that my family will not be in chaos
2. Pray that as we go here to share the word that the hearts of the people there would be open to God's word
3. Pray that all of us would continue to experience God and have breakthroughs on our walk with him even when it is tiring as we do all the crusades and sharing
4. Pray that God will grant us good health and that nobody will fall sick on this trip
5. Pray that the team would be united be it in doing skits or sharing and that we would impact lives there
6. Pray that we would be willing to step out of our comfort zone to share
7. Pray that God would give us a heart broken for the people there
8. Pray that the leaders would be able to lead well with God's anointing and that despite little rest God will given them the Strength to lead and serve
9. Pray that lives there would experience the greatest miracle which is salvation through or salvages lives

(Xiao) Alicia:
1. Pray that I will be more sensitive to the Holy Spirit and his Presence
2. Pray that I will continue to have faith and trust in him even if I meet any obstacles
3. Pray for ease in my parents that they will not worry about my safety
4. Pray that I will overcome all of Satan's attack with his strength
5. Pray that my heart will be opened to the people there and reach out to them
6. Pray for a passionate and paitient heart
7. Pray for initiative when help is needed

Miao Lin:
1. Sensitive to the Holy Spirit
2. Able to hear clearly from God
3. My mother to be safe and sound in Singapore as both me and my sis are going for the trip

Karen:
1. Pray against any fear and anxiety that I may have before the trip
2. Pray for boldness and courage to share when I am there
3. Pray that I will have love and compassion for the people there
4. Pray that I will rely on God physically and spiritually even when I am tired from the activities
5. Pray that I will continually prepare myself mentally and spiritually for the trip

Bing Hao:
1. A deepening of faith within me (And a greater religious fervour)
2. A renewed sense of compassion within me for the less fortunate and desolate folk in society
3. A more independent, responsible and resilient self to face the challenges in my daily life

Chong Ling:
1. The discipline to fast and pray for this trip
2. I will be sensitive to the Holy Spirit
3. I will not be fearful of the circumstances that I face throughout the trip
4. Good health

Clarice:
1. Pray that my brother wll be safe even as he is alone in Singapore
2. Pray that I will be sensitive and reply on the Holy Spirit
3. Pray that even when God speak to me, I wil not doubt him
4. Pray that I will not fall sick before and during mission trip
5. Pray that I will not fear even as I share the gospel
6. Pray that I will get myself ready even before this mission trip

Jason:
1. Pray that I will choose to be sensitive to Holy Spirit and obey the Holy Spirit
2. Pray that I will walk in the spirit
3. Pray that I will wait upon the Lord everyday
4. Pray that I will be paitient and wait for God's timing and not my timing to do his work
5. Pray that I will realise it is a spiritual war and to start to fight the war with spiritual weapons
6. Pray that I will be disciplined to fast and pray prior to the trip
7. Pray for passion, zeal and desire for God to show God's love to his people

Mu En:
1. Pray that I will have 100% faith in God on this trip. That I will put all my trust in him
2. Pray for good health and not fall sick
3. Pray for strength, physical and spiritual

Alright, you've heard it all! Do keep us in prayer as we embark on this trip of life changing magnitudes people. We'll be sure to update you guys with many awesome testimonies once we come back. - Bing Hao =)

1. 3 set of clothes (girls do bring at least 2 sets of black clothes)(in case of water activities)

2. 500ml of water bottle

3. Bathing kit (towel, soap, shampoo, toothbrush, etc)

4. Sandals/slippers + shoes

5. Plastic bag for dirty clothes

6. Medication if any (inhaler, etc)

7. Mini games ( Do let Davin know if u got any good card/board game so there will not be double)

8. A small harvest sack

Optional

1. Jacket

2. Small towel to dry yourselves after sweaty games.

P.s -Those who want to bring more shirt, do bring J
- Those not cycling, do bring at least $10 buck. Cyclist brings $10 more bucks.
- Pray for good weather, for safety, for fun, for bonding during the chalet.

3x clothes*(3 sets min, at least 2 sets of dark coloured clothes for girls in case of unforeseen circumstances hehehe, include undergarment n stuff)

jacket*(if u cold at night)

500ml bottle(during games u nd water)

Dear Handsome and Pretty,

There will be a cell group outing at 22 March. Due to Encounter Retreats (ER), the 15 march sunday wont be touched. :) Everyone is encouraged to go to the ER.

What we will be doing on the 22 March will be either,
1 Kayaking,
2 East Coast Park, <-- Can cycle, skates, treasure hunt and more.
3 West Coast Park,
4 Ice skating,
5 Steam boat,
6 Sentosa
7 Give me ideas.

We will start early and end early due to the next day, secondary, uni people got school.
Depending on the activities, we may start at 8am in the morning to about 6pm.

Things mentions is for 22March. Pretty and Handsome:) Do respond :) will be greatly thanks by many :)

In June, there will be most likely a Cell Group chalet. It will be really fun. I cant wait for the chalet to come:) Muahaha.

It will be around 14-30June. Uni people will be having holidays, Poly people will be having study break, Sec student will be having holidays too:)

Do let me know or small group leaders know what date you are NOT available.
Planning will be done to let everyone get a chance to go.
Sry in advance for people who cant go. But somehow i believe, everyone can go. God will do something about the timing:)

Here’s my 3 cents:

I used to be annoyed whenever my mother would ask me questions. On one occasion, she asked me something regarding a school event and I replied to her what the teacher had informed us. But she didn’t believe in what I said and called up my classmate to check! Of course, my classmate told her the exact same thing that I just answered. I remember I was frustrated and thought to myself, “Why do you come to me in the first place when you don’t believe in me?”

That’s exactly what Jesus is thinking too! There are times when we pray to God and yet not believe in the promises that He had made. It always amazes me when I read about stories of people with great faith like Abraham, how he held onto the belief that God will provide even till the last minute. I begin to question how little my faith is compares to his. And even when we are faithless, God is always faithful (1 Cor1:9)! I believe that as long as that little bit of faith is there, He will continue to work and mould in us.

Let’s take up a challenge this week and apply what Pastor Matt has taught us yeah?

Yo guys,

Man, my polytechnic education is coming to an end in 4 weeks time. There's really lots of stuffs to do and to be stressed about. Sadly, time is not on my side, causing me to sacrifice my precious sleeping hours. So sad man. Haha, but the good thing is that, since I've God on my side, time is really not an issue here since I know He will multiply my time. Anyway, I want and I choose to use my remaining time in poly to honor Him, giving Him my best in everything thing I do. God has been faithful to me and gave me sufficient grace to help me through endless problems throughout the 3 years in Ngee Ann Poly. God is really awesome. Freaking awesome. Haha. Definitely, our lives are not meant to be perfectly smooth sailing, but God who is faithful. Even when I am not, He is always faithful. I really thank God for being there for me, holding my hands through all the ups and downs in my life. For the upcoming Chinese new year, I pray that we will not only treat it as a festival season of celebration, but also, a great season of opportunities to share the good news of Jesus Christ about all the good and awesone things He has done for us to all our relatives. Tell them God is awesome, God is good, God is crazy (in a good way), God is radical, God is perfect, God is love and most importantly, God is my "Father" in Heaven and we shared a special bond.

Anyway, please pray for me that I will finish my last lap of my polytechnic education strong and to graduate in VICTORY. My final exams are coming in approximately 3-4 weeks time. Also pray for me for directions after my poly education. Directions like, which uni to go, which uni course to choose, so on and so forth.

DEAR ASPIRATES,

It's the time of the year again. My favourite season...Christmas time! Merry X'mas to all of you! =D Christmas also indicate that the year is coming to an end. How has this year been for you? Take time to reflect & conclude the year. What are the things that you did well/attitudes that are right that you want to continue doing & having next year? What are the things that are not so good? Throw them away & leave them behind! Remember that our HERITAGE DOESN"T DETERMINE OUR DESTINY! Even if this year hasn't been a fantastic year so what?! IN GOD NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE!!! I pray for a year of breakthroughs & victories in Our Lord Christ Jesus! =)

I also want to take this time to really thank all of you for being with me on this journey. I may not express my heart very often but I'm really appreciative & thankful. You guys taught me how to love, how to give and how to be more open-hearted. Even though it is not laughter all the time...times where i'm angry, frustrated, impatient, sad...but you guys still love me no matter what. I thank God for that.

I also thank God that more & more of you are taking initiative to do things. I see the Davin, Bing hao, Jo, Jieming, Wilson staying overnight to marinate & prepare food for the BBQ even though they keep forgettuing to bring this & that! I see Billy being so stressed & desperate over preparing the cell grp outing cos not everyone responded to him. (I find it very cute! ha) I see yaqin & wilson volunteering to be in the deco & backstage for X'mas Bash. I see Muen giving so much of his time to serve the church and serve God's ppl! Even this blog! Wouldn't have been possible without the initiative of ppl like Bing hao, Xiuting, Sui ying, Davin, Billy who never fail to put up the latest updates & improve the template of the blog! There are many many other hidden heroes that I have not mentioned...but you know that I appreciate & am proud of you all!

Not to miss out, the participant too! you guys and girls play a very important part too:) You guys and girls can serve by doing your best in everything, Games, paying attention to sermon, sharing more during sharing time, etc. We all play apart in Church:) One body in Christ:)

Go listen and learn what God want to speak to you during the sermon.

It was really great for this bbq. God grace too:) The food, when we plan was scared that it was too much and have excess, but when everything end, we do not have extra food, everything was just nice. Heard from everyone that they are full:) a great thing, coz usually BBQ have excess food one.

The rain was amazing too, It did not last long. if it is, it will be the end of bbq, but it did not :) Thank God for that:) although people gotten wet abit, but i think all have fun rite? :)

DID ANYONE GOT STOMACH ACHE? HAHA, I hope not. hahha.

Hey guys, There will be a Cell Outing to East Coast on the 28th of Dec (Sunday).

It'll probably be the last time this year Aspiration gets together for an event, so please keep the whole day free ok? (please, please, please x 10000)

Basically, i have no idea what we'll be doing there, as the only thing on my mind now is cycling, and more cycling....

... and oh yes, food as well. (think, a potluck style picnic!)

Wait, what about unconventional bonding games like a sandcastle building contest?

Operation Birthday Surprise..

Well the thing is, a video of the events that happened when we celebrated Jason's birthday on the sly early today morning (12+ - 1 am) would have been nice. Unfortunately, we did not take any such videos so i guess a "simple" narrative will have to do.

It all started when a few cell guys arranged to stay at Yanzhao's house on the premise of watching some soccer and just hanging out. What was different this time around, was the hidden agenda of celebrating Jason's birthday at the same time, as he would be in camp during its actual day.

The guys were watching soccer intensely, until the birthday boy decided to return home (Just a block away) to freshen up. Before his departure, the guys arranged to rendezvous at a 24/7 macdonalds within the neighbourhood once he was ready.

And, that was when Operation Birthday Surprise was initiated. A birthday cake was already purchased before hand, and it was taken along to the target's HDB block. The plan was to divide and conquer, and like a smooth military exercise, the guys began to execute this plan with total precision.

A single guy was placed on standby at the stairwell overlooking the lift lobby of the target's HDB flat, while the remaining guys proceeded to the uppermost level of the target's HDB block, taking with them a fiery arsenal comprising of a lighter, a cake knife, 2 candles, and a chocolate cake.

Make no mistake about it, they were definitely going in for the kill..

After a call was made to the target in an attempt to lure him out of his HDB flat, the soldiers (Sorry, i mean guys), boarded the lift of the top level, and waited in deathly silence for the signal to strike. Time continued to trickle past slowly, and very soon the guys were getting impaitient. But, it wasn't long before the scout reported in with news of the target's movements.

In response, the guys began arming themselves (Basically, we just lit the candles), as the lift they occupied began its slow and steady descent towards the target's location. Finally, the lift came to a grinding halt. The moment the doors slid open, the guys leapt out, screaming battle cries. But, in a turn of events, the target was nowhere to be found.

Stepping forward warily, the guys trained their eyes in all directions. Could it be that their target succeeded in outsmarting them? And where was their scout? Was he taken against his own will as a prisoner of war? Suddenlly, without much of a warning, the target materialised. (Apparently, he had forgotten to take his watch out of his house, and so, went back inside for it after pressing the lift button.)

Out of pure instinct, the guys swarmed in from all directions, catching their target "unprepared" (So much for the element of surprise), and with "devastating effect". Seconds later, 2 of the target's next of kin stormed out of his flat to help secure him.

Epilogue: Very soon, the target was subdued, subjected to repetitive chants (Brainwashing! Oh, the horror), and made to do the captors bidding of distributing cake slices for their enjoyment. =))

I'll start by thanking our dear brother Kenneth profusely for his help today (thursday).

As i had night deparmental duty (which required me to lock the departmental office up only after the last office worker left), i stayed till around 10+ 11 because one guy had much work to finish.

And, when he finally made his move and left, i proceeded to lock up and make my way down to the ground floor of my 'work place', expecting to be able to sign out and exit from the building at its usual gantry point.

Imagine my shock, when i found that it was closed! The next few moments were of sheer panic, as i wandered around the ground floor of the building aimlessly, trying to search for an exit.

But luckily, i remembered Kenneth was a 'security' personnel at the 'work place', and so, i called him, requesting his help. He directed me to the correct exit (at a certain basement, where other 'security personnel were on duty) paitiently through phone, and saved my life. (I mean, i could have found other means, like calling my department guys, to get out of this mess, but at that point of time, i wasn't thinking straight.)

Without him, i might have been stranded in the building the whole night. If you are reading this, thanks so much for your help bro.

Continued: I chanced upon him doing 'security' personnel duty the next day (friday afternoon) while clearing gantry and we laughed the whole incident off. But, i feel this is not the end of the story and so, i wish to take this opportunity to reiterate something.

You see, this small incident alone has clearly demonstrated, that there's more to the cell group than just Saturdays.

So, i've gotten a letter of offer for a confirmed entry to the University of Tasmania for what appears to be a 4-5 year double degree consisting of a bachelor of arts and bachelor of law degree, once i finish my NS, 2 years down the road..

But that was until, my mum and i clarified with IDP Singapore (the main Australian education advisor in Singapore), that an entry to the Australian National University to undergo the above mentioned study route is also pretty much confirmed, should i wish to apply, as many factors at play helped in allowing for an easy entry..

And let's not forget that i also have my sights set on certain UK universities. But, regardless of which overseas university accepts me in the end, i guess it's more or less confirmed, that i'll be leaving this country, for an extremely long time. =)

Prayer Requests:
1. To be able to bond with the guys in the department i'm serving for NS.
2. To be mentally and spiritually prepared, for the time i leave this country.

But of course, to make the best of my free time, I've decided to do some reading, praying and listen to some worship musics.
